Clinics and Services
Family Planning
This service is available to any women in Waltham Forest or Essex. We offer a full and confidential range of contraceptive methods, including emergency contraception, advice and referral for termination of pregnancy.
Maternity Booking
The practice nurse will make the administrative arrangements for referral to the community midwife. The midwife will contact you directly to arrange hospital attendance. Ante-natal care is then shared between the GP, midwife and hospital.
Postnatal
Please telephone during surgery times to tell us when you are home from hospital. The postnatal hospital is usually done by one of the doctors at 6 weeks. Please make an appointment
Childhood Immunisations
Immunisations and Vaccinations are carried out by our practice nurses, who provide help and advice regarding these. Please make an appointment.
Vaccines are the most effective way to prevent infectious diseases.
The NHS website explains how vaccines work, what they contain and the most common side effects.
Travel Vaccinations
If you're planning to travel outside the UK, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.
For further details please visit the NHS website
The following travel vaccines are available free on the NHS from our GP surgery:
- polio (given as a combined diphtheria/tetanus/polio jab)
- typhoid
- hepatitis A
- cholera
Please contact the practice at least 6 to 8 weeks before you're due to travel.
Some vaccines need to be given well in advance to allow your body to develop immunity.
And some vaccines involve a number of doses spread over several weeks or months.
You may be more at risk of some diseases, for example, if you're:
- travelling in rural areas
- backpacking
- staying in hostels or camping
- on a long trip rather than a package holiday
If you have a pre-existing health problem, this may make you more at risk of infection or complications from a travel-related illness.
Not all travel vaccinations are available free on the NHS, even if they're recommended for travel to a certain area.
Patients that need travel vaccinations that are not offered under the NHS are advised to visit local travel clinics or pharmacies that are offering these services.
Shingles Immunisation
70 - 79 year olds are eligible for the shingles national immunisation programme.
Visit the Shingles Aware website
Pneumonia Awareness
If you are 65 or over, or have certain health conditions like diabetes or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), you could be at increased risk of pneumococcal infections turning into something more serious, like pneumonia, blood poisoning, or meningitis.
If you are at risk, you may be eligible for pneumococcal vaccination on the NHS to help protect you against serious pneumococcal infections. Speak to your doctor or practice nurse.
Vasectomy Service
MSI Reproductive Choices are now commissioned to provide an NCL-wide vasectomy service to our registered patients.
Please book an appointment with the doctor to request a vasectomy. This is a CCG-funded service which means it is free for you to access.
